Task 4 22/05/08

Today is started working on my logo, I typed ‘logo creator’ into google and found a great site that creates logos. There are a lot of symbols you can choose from and then once you have chosen a symbol you can add text in cool fonts and adjust the shape, size, colour etc. At the end it gives you the option of buying the logo to put business cards etc, but instead of purchasing it I print screen it and copy it into paint to edit and the save it as a Jpeg. A problem I found was that the only print screen I could do it is on a background of checkered lines, so I zoomed in on paint and started to erase the lines, I eventually learnt that an easier way to eraser lines is to create a white custom shape over the parts I do not want to keep and delete it that way. For the logo I am designing I am going to print screen one of my created logos of this website and just keep the good fonts you can use, then I am going to add that to my logo.

Task 4 20/05/08

Today I finished and edited my logo analysis and principles and elements of design used on those logos. I am half way through finishing my 20 logo drawings and im not sure what program I should use to create my logo. The task is due in three days and I want to be finished by Thursday so ill have to do some work for homework considering we don’t have class tomorrow. Basically all I need to do is finish drawing my logos, then design my logo and then evaluate and edit all my work. Im guessing to finish this I will about 4 hours so I will do 2 hours of homework because we only have one or two more periods left.

Today in class I typed two principles and elements of design, for the logos I am analyzing. I also continued researching idea’s for the logos I am going to create.

Task 4 15/05/08

Today I continued work on the principles and element of design incorporated into the logo’s I am analyzing. I also researched some other logos and found out that a lot of the logos feature things that are fast and aggressive such as monster - beast, red bull – symmetrical bulls, shark energy – shark and nos energy - nos logo. So when I design my 20 logos I am going to use some aggressive or fast animals such as a puma, lion etc or some sort element like speed or energy.

I wrote about the principles and elements of design incorporated into the logos and the connotations associated with them. I decided to improve the layout of the document by combining this information in the logo analysis.

Task 4 08/05/08

Today I started to work on my analysis of 5 other energy drink bands. I used Nos, Pimp Juice, Red Bull, Shark and Monster energy drink for my logos to analyse. I found a good website that shows how logos can be effective if they use a consistent colour scheme e.g. reds, yellows and oranges go together very well, but its a paradox, as opposite colours on the colour wheel go together very well e.g. orange and blue or purple and yellow. I have decided to type my journals on Microsoft word and then copy and paste them onto the website because Google blogs does not have spell check so a lot of my journals contain mistakes.

Task 4 06/05/08

Started working on task 4 today. I have finished my timeline and started researching the definition of a logo. I started by reading wikipedia's definition of a logo and found it fairly useful however it doesn’t go into enough depth so tonight for homework I will look at some other websites and summarize the information in a paragraph ready for Thursday’s class. I think i will need to be doing at least 30 minutes of homework a night to complete this task because it is fairly detailed. I believe all the work is easy however theres too much of it. Also tonight and tomorrow night I will finish my task 3 advertisement editing so i can have it finished by the extension date.
