2B, Task 1, Journal 5
Nathaniel and I drafted the storyboard on Tuesday. We both discussed what final segments we should have in the show and then split the storyboard work between us, I will be completing the first half of the storyboard and Nathaniel will be finishing the second half. Before Tuesday’s class I printed off several copies of the storyboard template so Nathaniel and I could work on the storyboard, I gave 2 copies of the template to Nathaniel but it may not be enough so I emailed him the softcopy. Nathaniel and I both have scanners so all we have to do is finish our half of the storyboard and email it to each other. We both decided to create a script to go with our storyboard because it is too hard to fit the dialogue/script into the small box on the template, now we can just write “refer to script part __”
2B, Task 1, Journal 4
Today I created the template for our storyboard. I searched on google images ‘storyboard template’ and selected a good template. I print screened a square out of the template and pasted it into MS Paint. I then opened a word document and typed out script/dialogue, field of view, actions, sound, time in font 12. I then print screened the documents and pasted it into the paint document where I realized font 12 was too large to drag into the template. I deleted the print screen out of paint and print screened a new document where the font size was 10 and pasted it into a separate paint document. I then cropped the image to I could only see the writing and pasted that into the first paint document. I dragged the writing into the template at the appropriate places. I then copied the template square and pasted it to the side of the original, then copied the two and pasted them another 3 times down the page and saved the work. I then opened the storyboard into a work document and printed several copies of it.

2B, Task 1, Journal 3
Today I started working on the “hardware/software” to be used. I don’t see the point in creating this in the proposal stage because we will be changing our minds a lot; however it’s good to think about it now because we may not have access to certain software and hardware. Nathaniel identified the film genre and concept. I plan on allowing a about seven or so days to finish the storyboard. Next lesson Nathaniel and I plan on completing the "Explanation of target audience" and "Techniques to best appeal to the intended audience". Nathaniel will do the "Explanation of target audience" and when he's finished I can look at his work and decide the techniques we can use to appeal to the target audience. If we both finish early we can discuss some ideas for the segments in the show (so far we have thought of best AFL marks, Best sporting tackles, What's new in Extreme Sports, Worst Sporting Injuries etc). After the rough outline we can create a draft and then create the good copy, then compile/edit the work and we’re finished in time to submit the work.

2B, Task 1, Journal 2
Today I finished “what makes a good short film”. I first googled “what makes a short film” and went to the first website on the list. The website was exactly what I was looking for; it contained a number of headings with simple information. I copy and pasted the information into word and re-wrote the information in my own words and related it to our situation e.g. I deleted the information about hiring professional actors etc. Nathaniel and I then thought of a number of company names which we put into a word document. Eventually through a process of elimination we decided to call our company ‘Ultimate Action Sports’ . Then started to create the logo. From our past logo experience we knew that we could go to a website that makes them, we made the logo but the problem was that you have to buy it, so we print screened it, but the logo was on a stripped background. It was too hard to erase the lines in paint (background) but later on I found out that you can preview the logo on business cards, where the background is blank, so I just print screened it from there.

2B, Task 1, Journal 1
Today Nathaniel and I discussed what we were going to do for the next three weeks and started working. We started to think of a company name, but eventually it was too hard to come up with a good name so we decided to do that later on, so we could think of a name while at home, on the bus etc. I proposed to start work on ‘what makes a good short film’. The first thing I did was google the question, it came up with the perfect website with easy information. I ended up finishing about a page and a half of work before the period finished. Nathaniel started working on the timeline. Mid-way through the lesson we realized that the timeline wasn’t suppose to be for the proposal, it was suppose to be for the production ; Nathaniel opted to finish in the timeline so we could still use it to get our proposal finished on time.
